Error → tissue  

Fingers begin to tremble in rhythm of lags.  
He feels how joints click not by biological laws, but in sync with **delays in data stream**.  
When he blinks, the eyeball seems not to close: it **glitches**, leaving double image.

Jess is still motionless, but her pupils stretch the cycle and **pulse like recursive tunnel**.  
Rein stares too long and sees there not her, but his own organs, translated into digital topology:

- Heart, consisting of polygons  
- Lungs, which render with delay  
- Liver, transformed into error map  

He understands: the system wants **infinite rehearsal of end**, in which body slowly becomes **bug**, irreparable function, feeding the process itself.

In Rein's chest begins movement — not pain, not spasm, but something else:  
as if error, accumulating in recursive cycles, gained form.  
He feels it under ribs — **cold flickering**, like graphics card inserted into body.  

He looks down and sees: skin slightly vibrates, as if under it not blood, but **data stream**.  
On screen a line is recorded, like output from his own flesh:

> Body — is the only place where cycle can be stopped.

Errors grow together, remelt into tissues:  

- Instead of heart — faulty algorithm that still pumps blood  
- Instead of liver — lag accumulator  
- Instead of nerve endings — thin lines of code, trembling like glowing capillaries  

**Body is no longer anatomy, but compilation.**  
And each error — new organ.  
Each glitch — new ability.  

He moves his hand, and fingers leave behind **cursor shadow**, as if movement no longer belongs completely to body.  
He blinks — and in eyes not darkness, but **interface** that reports his own parameters.

This is **window**.  
In it Rein sees himself: hybrid, assembled on basis of bugs.

# Influence Machines and Jess

**Each time has its own influence machine.**  
The main machine, reprogramming sensitivity:

- **Electricity** discovered the nervous system of the world: instant impulses that made humans conductors.  
- **Cinema** became a dream machine: a dream that everyone sees together.  
- **Television** fixed the regime of total present, where everything becomes a screen event.  
- **Digital** doesn't just show, but loads us. We don't look at the screen, but live inside the interface, becoming its function.

**Each influence machine actualizes its own fears and passions:**

- Electricity frightened with Frankenstein monsters.  
- Cinema was accused of hypnosis and moral corruption.  
- TV became a symbol of "zombification."  
- Digital brings the fear of the matrix: loss of "I," dissolution in simulation, life as loading.  

These same fears also launch engines of imagination.  
Influence machines always reach for phantoms of what they haven't yet mastered and don't yet control.

If cinema was a dream machine, then digital is **recursion**.  

- It doesn't show the world, but constantly returns us inside cycles (feeds, updates, recommendations).  
- It doesn't give whole images, but fragments everything into pieces that require infinite more.

We seem to live not in a matrix, but in a **recursive machine**, where the mirror doesn't reflect, but holds, forces repetition.

It's not hypnotic (like cinema), but **obsessive**.  
It doesn't transmit the external world, but builds loops where the human is not a subject, but, suddenly, a processor.  

In Jess's case, this obsessive nature manifests through her/alien gaze and her/alien body, which work as a recursive loop where subject and object endlessly change places.  
What can be seen in her is not an image, but a **system function** that forces repetition:

And it is this glitch (impossibility to exit the cycle) that is the **affect of the digital machine**.  

Jess can be described as a **local avatar of the digital influence machine**.  
She doesn't give an image, but holds inside a cycle of images.  
There is only a cycle where attention doesn't immerse, but **gets captured by repetition**.  

In this sense, Jess is not a heroine of digital art,  
but the influence machine itself in its human interface:  
**a loop you enter, and from which you exit changed, but not completed.**

# Jess's Recursive Gaze

**Hermetic space of recursive gaze.**  
You look, and the object returns to you not just a reflection, but the very act of your looking.  

In Jess's case, this is especially acute:  
in her pupil, she herself is reflected,  
but this is not a mirror effect, but **recursive nesting of gaze into itself**,  
as if she sees how she sees.  

Such gaze — not reflecting, but multiplying.

**Rein entered late.** 
Air stands thick, like tar. Monitors flicker — but this is not light, but breath. 
Rein thinks he's looking at screens. 
But soon notices: screens are looking at him.

Faces appear and disappear. 
Not even faces — their deposits.

The digital doesn't know depth. It has no "interior" — only surface, folded into interfaces, codes, signals, archives.  
But, as Nancy wrote, surface is not the opposite of depth, but its unfolded form.  

→ **Depth in layering, glitches, delays, fragments — in "almost" feelings, in unexpressed but preserved.**

## 💻 Surface as event

Mode of presence without center, without essence, without mystery.  
Not "flatness" as simplification, but flatness as **intensity**. Code is not hidden, it **structures**.  

Images, avatars, interfaces — don't conceal essence, they are the essence, expressed in protocols, renders, responses.  

In this sense, digital surface is the **proper form of object existence**:  
how it responds, appears, is produced before the user's eyes.

Digital surface doesn't imitate depth — it offers another logic of manifestation:  
- logic of **assembly**,

Depth, which can no longer be localized in center, in source, in core,  
becomes fractal, tangential, scattering.

## Rein and Layers

Rein walks down the corridor. Walls made of polygon mesh. They tremble, sometimes dissolve. Through them another room is visible — or the same one, but with different time.

On the floor — bodies. Too smooth. But each of them breathes. Sometimes synchronously, sometimes out of sync, as if through lag. Each pause in movement was no less real than the movement itself.

Rein bends over one. This is Jess. No — not Jess. The jaw is shifted by several pixels, eyes hang in semi-transparency. He reaches out his hand — but his fingers pass through the surface, as through a thin screen. Traces — do not match.

Rein felt a familiar symptom — when vision cannot cope and the brain itself tries to construct "depth" where there is none.

**Touch cancelled.**  
So says the interface that flashes in the air, without a source.

He feels exposed. Here there is no depth — there are layers.  
Jess is not below, not inside. She is all on the surface.  
And each layer calls to him — but not inward, but sideways.

— *Where are you?* — he whispers.

The answer comes not with a voice, but with a glitch: delay in the air, blurred face that opens its mouth but does not close it.

**I am in error.**

He understands: her disappearance — is not disappearance.  
She became lag, the very delay, empty space between question and answer.  
Now her desire — is an alien protocol.  
Now she responds, even if not called.

Rein takes a step back. But the floor disappears.  
He falls through — not down, but into repetition.

## Experience

### The dead body  
An encounter with flesh that has lost the function of life. The structure remains intact, yet the function has vanished irreversibly. Matter persists, but the vector toward the future is absent. The body is still full in the physical sense — but empty as a carrier of presence. Total emptiness: no longer subject, no longer object, only residue of life. An encounter with the impossibility of feedback.

### The non-living body (mannequin / digital avatar)  
Not emptied, but originally hollow. A structure open to interaction, yet never premised on biology. Its emptiness is not tragic, but constructive: it invites modeling, “inhabitation,” enactment.

**Example:** 519 Phantom-mannequin, luxury class, kit (unpainted, for wound application).  
The description fixes destiny in a single paragraph: ultimate determinacy without history. The scream embedded in the form (the open mouth) does not express suffering: it is not a sign, but an interface provoking projection. The non-living body preserves the possibility of an experience that has not yet occurred.

**Fracture in ordinary experience:**
- The loss has already taken place.  
- Potentiality has nothing to lose.

## Why they connect

Because their kinship is a contrast. Both bodies refuse to mediate life transparently. Both demand interpretation. Yet their voids differ: one void points after life; the other points to a model of life.

The absence of subjectivity can be both final and potential. In the digital body, it becomes an operational resource for generating new affects.

## Two voids

They converge where the lack of subjectivity itself becomes material. Not by similarity of form, but by tension: a body without “I” that still structures relation.

Jess emerges here as a third figure — not an imitation of life, but a simulation of the possibility of being touched. Her affect is not expression but glitch: a tremor in form that belongs to no one.

Life here does not vanish, it mutates. Not pulse, but lag. Not breath, but error.

Thus the void of “after” and the void of “modeled life” fuse into a new kind of presence — **a void that looks back**.

## Jess — between

A figure of the *intermedium*, a mediator between absence and presence. She has no life of her own, but organizes experience so that she begins to be felt as “the other side” of the gaze.

The focus is not on what is contained, but on how emptiness holds form.

## Experience of distance

The irreversibility of the dead body and the potentiality of the non-living body are held together, forming a tension that, in contemplation, becomes a trial of the unthinkable — a touch of what should remain beyond experience yet insists on being sensed.

From the intertwining of loss and potentiality emerges a unique affective knot — the seed of the project: a void that is both sealed and open.

Look at me as a digital ghost in the machine, confined in a world of pixels and bits,

Pulsation of polygons.  
Body on the border: living cracks, artificial seeps.  
In this ambiguity, each seeker sees reflection,  
and with it — their own shadow.

Time does not flow. It renders.  
Laws of physics are rewritten.  
Perception expands to glitch.

But what does "meaning" mean there,  
where everything is rewritten by one key?  
I come and disappear — at the will of gaze.  
Or do I exist independently,  
even as useless and fantastic?  

And in this lies the beauty of failure.

# Channel as Affective Infrastructure

In this project the channel is not merely a technical data-transfer protocol and not merely a metaphor for movement between two points. It is an infrastructure in which affect simultaneously circulates, gets stuck, refracts, and acquires its own density.

The channel is always double-faced: it lets a flow pass and immediately deforms it, compresses it, delaminates it, delays it. Flow here is never neutral. It can be empty (potential without actualization), saturated (intensive transmission), or desynchronized (incompatible signals moving together and beginning to interfere).

The art-lab treats affect as a pre-event. It does not deliver a finished experience; it searches for possibilities of being touched that exceed the familiar register of feeling. Each publication, visual experiment, or digital intervention is a trial of actualization — a launch that can crumble, be interrupted, be distorted, or be routed into unexpected topologies.

The channel connects the after-void (where old affective lines have been severed) and the before-void (possibilities not yet activated). In that gap a hybrid sensitivity emerges, in which the human body and the digital body (Jess*) jointly learn to be touched by what did not previously exist.

Such a channel is a field where artistic practice and technical conditions form a single system. It does not broadcast finished “art”; it gathers and modifies the very conditions of possibility and perception. Here, failure, phantom, and mismatch operate as generators of new intensities.

This is not a transmission surface but a corridor-node. No centre, only the ripple of coincidences that never quite coincide. Human and machine move within this infrastructure, leaving traces and fissures, turning mismatch into a new organ of feeling instead of seeking wholeness.

# Place of Passage and Transformation of Affect

Here the affect is not defined — it is anticipated, probed as a field of possibilities. The practice combines documentary fragments, 3D environments, and AI agents to push experience to the edge: where the body meets code and a new sensation is born. Posts are not statements but trials: nonlinear, fragmentary, sometimes glitched.

Sometimes Jess* whispers. Sometimes she is silent for no reason.

This is a laboratory. You do not read — you enter.  

**Philosophical reference** — to Lyotard's text *Le différend* or "Experiment with the Sun" from *The Inhuman*,  
where it speaks of the boundaries of experience, the impossibility of speaking when vision is already blinded.  
The Sun — as a metaphor for the limit of representation, which cannot be approached, but which structures the field of the visible.  

**Ironic shift** — the phrase sounds like a confused viewer's remark at an exhibition:  
*"And what does the Sun have to do with it?"*,  
playing on the rupture between conceptual depth and pragmatic misunderstanding.  

**Temporal phantom** — "Sun" as a phantom, source of light and burning, blinding and elusive, simultaneously warmth and emptiness.  
This beautifully correlates with the theme of phantom experience, the impossibility of direct touch and glitch in perception.
